Sunday’s Fylde Hustings Clash With England’s Euro Match

Fylde residents will have the opportunity to question their prospective MPs when they step on stage at the Lowther Pavilion on Sunday 30th June. However, the doors at the Lowther open at the same time as Sunday’s kick off in the Euros when England play Slovakia in the knock-out stage. This may effect the turn-out.

Joining forces to hosting these hustings, the Lancashire Lead, Lancashire Post, Lytham St Annes Express and Blog Preston, the event will enable voters to quiz the candidates seeking election for Fylde on 4th  July.

Importantly, registration is necessary to secure a place at the hustings. Doors open at 5.00 p.m. with the hustings starting at 5.30 p.m. and the organisers hope to be wrapped up by around 7.00 p.m. Each person attending must fill in a copy of this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScm7yObex2iSTPJF-VCAjweaQZOTiy-dAGOiYZodLkANlNpDA/viewform

The hustings intend to give voters a chance to hear from the seven people vying to win their votes in the Fylde constituency when the country goes to the polls on Thursday 4th July. Anyone wishing to attend and ask a question can register to do so using the registration form, shared in the above link. Places are limited and allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Local democracy reporter Paul Faulkner will host the event. The Lancashire Post’s digital editor Vanessa Sims said: ‘It’s great to be teaming up with The Lancashire Lead on an event that will give the people of Fylde the opportunity to hear directly what candidates think on the issues important to them ahead of the election. This is your chance to hear first-hand what their priorities will be if they get elected.’

The full list of candidates standing in the Fylde constituency is:

  • Anne Aitken (Independent)
  • Tom Calver (Labour Party)
  • Mark Jewell (Liberal Democrats)
  • Cheryl Morrison (Alliance for Democracy and Freedom)
  • Andrew Snowden (Conservative)
  • Brendan Wilkinson (Green)
  • Brook Wimbury (Reform)
