Police Cordon In Place Because Of Unexploded Bomb

Fylde Police currently (Tuesday 28th May) have a cordon in place between Clifton Drive North and Devonshire Road in Lytham St. Anne’s. Properties have been evacuated and people are asked avoid the area as a precaution.

Police have explained why the cordon is in place: ‘Earlier today we were made aware that an old, unexploded ordnance had been found on the beach and taken to an address in Clifton Drive North.

Although it is not unusual for these devices to be found, we have evacuated a small number of properties and put a 100 metre cordon in place as a precaution.

Our Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) colleagues are on their way and we would ask that people avoid the area as a precaution.’

Police add, ‘We will update you when we can.’
